| Lummisville is named after Sodus Bay's William Nixon Lummis. The hamlet was first located at the shores of Great Sodus Bay - where Lummisville Road ends at the bay. Then the site of the hamlet on maps of 1874 is shown to be located at the juncture of Lummisville and East Bay Roads. There were a post office and grocery store.
