Historic narrative: | |||||
This one room fieldstone school house was made to last and is still in good condition. It is believed to have been built in 1828 by the father of Josiah Rice. The children who attended this school often referred to it as the "Stone Fortress" which is easy to understand. The school closed in 1949 and children subsequently went to the Sodus Village Schools after centralization in 1950. It was later used as a migrant camp. Anna Tunley (see photo above) was a student there in 1922. District #3 Vosburg Teachers 1813-date school opened |
