Historic narrative: | |||||
Each town had many schoolhouses located in areas where settlement was concentrated. Marion students were served by a dozen or so schoolhouses, each with its own teacher. The teachers were often fresh out of the Marion Collegiate Institute. One of these teachers was Nellie Sherwood who taught in this schoolhouse in 1894. She later married Scott Curtis, town health officer and funeral director. |
