93 Memorials

This little cemetery is located just a little South of the Sherman Cemetery near the "Y" of Route 21 and County Road 107. Going Easterly on 107 the cemetery is the second lot on the left from the corner. According to Wayne County historical records this cemetery was established in 1804.  Some have said that many of the old graves that were originally there were later moved to Marion and other cemeteries. Although this old cemetery is now fenced in and totally overgrown with weeds and grass, one can still see where the grave markers were. The old slab brownstones and other grave markers have been discarded and are stacked and scattered about on the back of the lot. Who is left buried there now, if any, is unknown. But at one time there were many North Marion area people buried in the Upper Corners Cemetery. Some of them are included below.

UPDATE: May 2022   This cemetery is mowed four times per year and is under the care of the Town of Marion.  In 2008 a sign reading "Upper Corners Cemetery" was placed to mark the site.  Hours are dawn to dusk.  No motor vehicles are allowed, no pets, no containers and no digging.

2005 Driving Directions - on Rte. 21N to Marion make right turn onto County Road 403 (going into town). Pass Buffalo St. and Elementary School and continue past grocery store. Cemetery is on right hand side of road, before Rte. 21 intersects again.
