Still standing on Route 89, about a mile and a half north of Savannah, weather beaten and grey, is the Crusoe House, built by Royal Torrey in 1824, north of Crusoe Creek. This iconic building was for a time the only hotel/tavern in the town. Early town meetings and public gatherings were held here. It was also the post office. The Crusoe House is the oldest building that remains standing in the Town of Savannah |
