In Clyde, NY, Clinton's Ditch travelled through the village, north of the Clyde River.

 
 
Historic narrative:
Clinton's Ditch, the nickname for the first Erie Canal, reached Clyde in 1820 on its way west toward Lyons.  The first boat between the two towns was built by Aaron Griswold of Lock Berlin and travelled in 1822.
