The North Rose Fire Department started in 1915. Lack of space in the old building (on Caroline Ave) prompted construction of this building, designed by Fred Tinney of Harnish and Lookup, Newark architectural firm. Work on this concrete block structure started in July, 1962. A cornerstone, donated by Lloyd Richardson of North Rose, was put in place in August, 1962. The land was donated to firemen buy the late Flora Hill and her three daughters, in memory of John Arthur Hill. The firemen sold a portion of the donated five acres to the Fire District for this building.
