Lakey House Address: 2799 Quaker Road, Palmyra Year Built: 1837 The history of this building is sketchy. According to Carl Schmidt, Nelson Drake built it, but Thomas L. Cook attributed the building to Franklin Lakey. Compare this with the fine workmanship you saw at 2631 Quaker Road. This one is a roughly built house; built with field cobbles. The quoins are brick on the back corners and uncut limestone on the front corners. The death door on the side has been stoned in. A fire in the 1950s destroyed the east side, which was replaced with a stucco-faced structure. |
