This single-room schoolhouse is now a private residence.  According to NYGEN, the school opened in 1833 and closed in 1950. On Dec. 12, 1950 William West and Jane West purchased the school at auction. They moved  into it Oct. 1953.  A remodeler lowered the ceiling, replaced the coal furnace with a floor furnace and 2 of the original windows from the school were put in the living room. The main room was divided into 2 bedrooms, a bath, living room, kitchen and utility room with stairs going up to the attic. In 1965,  a furnace was put into the basement and a bedroom was made upstairs in part of the attic.
